BEST FULL SIZE.

This is the Ave Bridge that we can see from our roof terrace, I was fortunate to catch one of the eleven trains a day that pass here.
There are two of these huge structures crossing the Guadalhorce Valley, quite a feat of modern engineering as they had to tunnel through several mountains in order to build this line.

On December 23rd 2007 the new AVE High Speed Train Service opened between the Spanish Capitol Madrid and The City of Malaga. The new service means it is now possible to travel between the two cities in approx 2hr 30 mins.

The route travels though Ciudad Real, Puerto llano, Córdoba, and Antequera on its way from Madrid to Malaga.

The Train used on the service is the Talgo S-102 which has the affectionate nickname “The Duck” due to the shape of the nose. It was built by the Spanish company Talgo with the Canadian group Bombardier, the train can reach speeds of up to 330km an hour.

There are three levels of class on board which are
Club (Deluxe Class)
Preferente (First Class)
Turista (Second Class)

It’s a fast but not an inexpensive way to travel as the ticket price is quite high, but I believe from family members that it’s quite an experience!
In time the Ave will link with the high speed railways of the rest of Europe.
