Seven hours behind the wheel. It wore me out, but in truth, I didn't HAVE to do it. I had made the appointment, then decided to keep it, since there was this built-in weather adventure. ;-)
Check this out: When I got there, I had about 20 minutes of work outdoors, as well as my inside work. The temperature read 4 degrees F on a nearby bank sign. The wind was blowing, a lot, and the windchills were about 15 to 20 degrees below zero. I was wearing a hat, but didn't have my neck or ears completely covered. No biggie. I didn't even think about it. I've lived in Michigan most of my life and know when I'm cold or not. And I wasn't cold.
But when I got inside those short twenty minutes later, the tops of both my ears were frozen. I had actual frostbite. They were white and hard and I probably could have snapped them off. When they started warming up, they hurt like crazy. Today they are swollen, sore, and red. But I don't think they're going to turn black and fall off.
I will not again be ignorant, but it's a weird way to learn that lesson.

I can tell you that having a portion of your body frozen changes your short-term perspective on things.
