For those who would like to know how it's done:
I put the potatoes underneath the leg of lamb. So they roast in the dripping fat from the meat. They are on soil to minimize cleaning. It is a raw(!) herring!

(The previous picture is just to give a better sense of the scene).

-When I was in Arnhem in the Netherlands a few years ago, there was a food market in front of the big Eusebius church. One section was a fish section, and there one could buy a snack if one felt a bit hungry.

And what was this lovely snack, one might wonder? -Raw herrings!!
They took a (raw) herring, gutted right in front of you.....and there you go - eat! Mangiare! *Mmwah*!

Really good, actually!
