A poem to my father

Daddys Girl

Once I was your little girl, Holding my fingers you helped me to twirl.

Hugs and kisses felt so good, Be daddys girl I always would.

Thruogh my teenage years we drifted apart, But in safe place you were kept in my heart.

As I grew up I started to see, All the things you never wanted me to be.

I seen you go through so much pain. I thought for years you must be insane.

To put your self thruogh as much as you did, Life must have been hard for you growing up as a kid.

Now I am an adult and have a kid of my own, I see you in me, like my voice (in the tone).

You struggled your whole life with alcohol and drugs, But towards the end that didnt matter you were here to give hugs.

When you were sick I wanted you to come home, I never thought this was it till I called you on the phone.

When I talked to you I knew this could be the end, I didnt want you to be mad at me I wanted to make amends.

So you said I love you and dont cry Sunny, If only I knew thoes were the last words I would hear from you.

I would have tried to be strong and maybe funny, I didnt want you to be scared or to cry.

I didnt want to have to say good bye!

I want you to know I will always keep you alive. Like the stories I will tell Angel about your Chevy 55.

And how passionate you were about things in you life, And how you got married 3 times to 3 different wives :)

How you loved your grand children the most, You would do anything for them like get up and make them eggs and toast.

I say good bye Daddy But well never be apart. Toot a loo you will always be in my heart.
