Aujourd’hui siège des Archives de l’Etat, l’Ancien Arsenal qui domine la Vieille Ville semble la protéger par le biais de cinq canons, vestiges des batteries défendant jadis les remparts de la ville.

Ce bâtiment, qui date du début du XVIIe siècle, fut à l’origine un grenier à blé avant d’être transformé en dépôt d’armes. Cette fonction d’arsenal persista jusqu’en 1877.
